What is a Letter of Recommendation?

Letters of Recommendation are letters where a writer describes the capabilities and qualities of an individual that is being recommended for a job, for school or other situation. Generally they are addressed to a particular entity making the request. Some types of Rrecommendation Letters include: Recommendations for Academic Programs, Scholarship Letters of Recommendation and naturally Recommendation for Employment Letters.

Employment recommendation letters would generally be written by a previous supervisor or boss familiar with the applicant abilities and charachter. Academic Recommendations would be generally written by someone in an authoritive position with direct knowledge of the applicant’s scholastic aptitude and potential. This could include teachers, employers or clergy.
