Appear in Court. Before the date that you have scheduled, you should contact your court to detal court and determine whether they wish you to mail the proof of publication, or to bring it with you to the hearing. If you do not mail these documents directly to the court, you must bring this Protry Approving Publication, or equivalent documents. Although this should be part of your newspaper's standard procedure, you should confirm that you will be receiving these documents. You should also sg to the courthouse so you will know what forms of payment will be accepted. Mail ­ If you decide to mail your forms, you should include a cover letter that explains that you are requesting a name chacourts require either cash, money order, or certified check payments only: personal checks and credit cards will not be accepted in these jurisdictions. You should contact your local court before goin you will need to file the documents, or can ask at the courthouse. You will be required to pay the filing fee at the time you bring in your documents, which will be about $80. In Person ­ You should bring in the original copies of your completed forms, as well as at least three copies of those documents. Tell the filing clerk that you are filine the forms in person, or you may mail in your completed documents. It is usually a better idea to go into court, as the process tends to be faster and you are likely to find out about any defects in ildings. You may contact your local court for more information, or locate a nearby notary public in your local phone book. Step 5. File the signed Petition and Order with your local court.
