General Information
Livestock Bill of Sale

It is a good idea to have a written Bill of Sale when selling or purchasing any type of livestock such as cattle, goats, chickens, etc.  Although it may appear that both the buyer and seller are in agreement about the terms of the sale, disagreements or misunderstandings can easily happen.  A written Bill of Sale will be helpful by forcing discussion of necessary topics before the deal is completed (e.g. condition of the livestock, illnesses, feeding requirements, etc.).  If there is a problem, a written Bill of Sale can be easily accessed for clarification or evidence as to the terms and conditions of the sale.  A written Livestock Bill of Sale will also serve as proof that the buyer is now the legal owner of the livestock.

Many states have detailed laws, rules and regulations regarding the ownership and sale of livestock.  It is recommended that you check your state and local laws and regulations before purchasing or housing livestock.
