After you have received your your Certified Order. After the court has made its decision or the clerk has made its determination, the order granting your name change will be certified. FINISHING UP. Step 8. Notify Additional Entities of Your Name Change. In connection with your application, the judge may require that you notify a comply with all instructions given by the judge. Instructions-Name Change Kit 6 You can contact your court in advance to determine where you will need to file the documents, or can ask at the courthouse. NOTE: Even though you have completed the filing of your request to change your name, it will not be official until either the clerk or a judge has signed your order, as discuructions and follow them precisely. Be sure to ask your clerk about completing an Order and Certificate of Name Change. After you have completed your documents, look at the signature block on each form. If there is a space next to the signature for aor at least ten (10) calendar days. In some jurisdictions, if the 10th day falls on a Saturday, Sunday, or legal holiday, you must allow the notice to remain posted until 5:00 p.m. the following businate-stamped by the clerk's office before it is posted. You should contact your local clerk to determine if this is necessary in your area.
