What is an Agency Agreement?

An Agency Agreement is a legal contract between the Principal and the Agent by which the Agent agrees to act of behalf of the Principal and the Principal agrees to be bound by the actions of the agent. The Agency Agreement usually sets forth terms such as the purpose of the agency, the term of the agreement, the duties of the agent, compensation and any other important terms. The power that is given to the Agent is called the “authority”.
