Registration of business name requirements:
Registration is mandatory. The
applicant must register with the County
Clerk in the county where the person
conducts or intends to conduct business.
(Sections 17910, 17915).

Registration application requirements:
The applicant must file a statement
within forty days after the person begins
to conduct business. The statement
shall contain the fictitious business
name, the street address of the place
of business, the name and address of the
individual filing the statement, and the
nature of the business (for example: sole
proprietorship or partnership). (Section
17913).
Publication requirements: Within
thirty days of filing the statement, the
applicant must publish the name in
the newspaper of general circulation
in the county in which the applicant’s
principal place of business is located.

Office for registration: The applicant
must register with the County Clerk of
the county in which the registrant has
his principal place of business. (Section
17915).
