Registration of business name requirements:
Registration is optional. Ohio’s
statute is for trade names. Generally,
a trade name is a name used to identify
a person’s business, and to which
the owner(s) asserts the exclusive right
to use. The applicant must register
with the Secretary of State. (Section
1329.01).
Registration fee: $50.00
Term of registration: Five years. (Section
1329.04).
Name requirements: The name cannot
imply that the business is connected
with a government entity if not
so connected, the name can not imply
that the business is incorporated if not
incorporated, and the name shall not
be indistinguishable from any other
previously registered business name.

Registration application requirements:
The application must state the name of
the owner(s), the business address of
