When selling or buying personal property it is important to get the agreement in writing. Whether you're a buyer or a seller, documenting a transaction through a Bill of Sale helps you avoid headaches and legal complications.

A General Bill of Sale can be used by anyone selling or buying any item of personal property - automobile, computer, sofa, or artwork - and is a crucial tool for protecting the rights of the both the buyer and the seller.

A Bill of Sale is also an important document for tax and other accounting purposes: It proves that the buyer owns the property, and, for those who itemize taxes, it will keep the IRS happy should an audit arise.

Among others, this form includes the following key provisions:
  • Consideration: States the amount paid for the personal property
  • Parties: Identifies the Seller and Buyer in the transaction
  • Property: Describes the property in the transaction
This attorney-prepared packet contains:
  1. General Bill of Sale Instructions & Checklist
